Steve Carell=good. Jim Carey=bad. I'm not sure how I feel about this movie. They've gone and Pixarized Dr. Seuss, and it looks weird. Horton the elephant still looks about right. The opening sequence they show here looks great, and the animation actually looks pretty good. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully they don't stomp all over Seuss's work like The Grinch and The Cat and the Hat movies did.Again, looks cool, but I question the motivation to do Seuss in 3D to begin with, and then they don't stay very true to the style. But that obviously isn't what they set out to do. They're working with good material, and like I said---the animation looks good. Let's cross our fingers.
Compared to the live-action nightmares of The Grinch and Cat in the Hat, this is a breath of fresh air. I like the colors, and they seem to keep the whimsical flavor. The character design, while not 100% Seuss, is way better than your typical "Over the Hedge" kind of film. Jim Carrey should not be in this film -- if he does his usual zany character (as it seems in this trailer) that is NOTHING like the character of the elephant. But overall, it looks promising (one can always hope!)
